CD Assignment - Holden Caulfield Longtime Sunshine - Weezer I decided to choose this song for my album because it really rings a familiar bell in my head. It shows a sense of longing, almost nostalgically, which I can relate to a lot. The simplicity of the instruments creates a very homely feeling that makes me think about the past. Throughout this song, they’re always referencing to going back to a simpler time, and really getting away from their problems and issues. It’s almost like a mirror of my situation, where I wanted to run away from all these troubles floating around my mind. The lyrics that tell about getting away from everything, such as “Sometimes I wanna pack it all up, get on a bus and move to Vermont”, echo the desperation …show more content…

“Looking for something I’ve never seen”, really makes me think of the things I look for when I’m in New York. It’s clear that they are lost, just like me. This song also sends the message of having friends who aren’t close and don’t understand your situation, and also the insecurity that comes from that realization; “You need me less than I need you”, is really relatable to me, as I’m always thinking that I’m insignificant to others. This sense of confusion and insecurity is something I was facing, and this song helps me to cope with it in a way. “Traffic is perfectly still”, conveys the message of a frozen world, much like mine is stuck in it’s own place. I feel like I’m holding my own world up, and that no one can help me. “You can trust me trust nobody”, shows my sense of insecurity of others, and how I don’t really want to open up to others as I always think that they won’t be able to help. The ending is much like a calling; it’s asking and expecting someone to understand the situation, but deep down believing that no one can help. I struggled with this conflict a lot, and it really made me feel depressed as I felt so alone.
