Looking for Alaska Looking for Alaska is a beautifully written book. It has very moving, passionate, and thought-provoking parts to it. I believe readers of all ages can connect to this book in some way. That is why it's such a universal and popular book. I believe readers can connect with this book because of the way it was written. The characters seem to be actually real. The characters do bad things, like drinking, smoking, using bad language, and participating in sex, but everyone does that sort of stuff in their life. Almost everyone I know has participated in those kinds of things to some degree. While that is not a good thing, I believe it makes the reader feel closer to the characters. Her mother is very unstable and one moment she could be having fun and the next be in a horrible mood. Her mother is also always going and buying prom dresses, that remind her of her glory days, so she can stand in the front yard and wave at cars. CeeCee pretty much has to always take care of her mother, not the other way around. I believe CeeCee is okay with that because she knows something is wrong with her mother, and has come to terms with it. She forgives her mother, because she knows that there is nothing she can do about it. The second person I believe CeeCee forgives is her father. CeeCee was always just left at home with her mother for weeks on end. This is because her father would not want to have to deal and take care of CeeCee's mom. Her father kind of just leaves the two to fend and take care of themselves. This is not easy for CeeCee, because she is just twelve. It leaves a lot of pressure and responsibility on her shoulders that she shouldn't have to worry about. But she forgives her dad because she knows it is hard for him to see her mother in that
