The book "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park explores the life of Salva, an 11-year-old boy living in South Sudan, after he is displaced by the Sudanese Civil War. First, in 1985, Salva and his classmates are instructed to run into the bush to escape the gunfire that was heard not far from the school. Then, he joins a group of travelers who are walking away from the war in Sudan, but they abandon him in a barn one evening while he is still asleep. After spending a few days with the barn's owner, Salva is sent away with a different group of travelers, must of whom accept him grudgingly. The group walks for a month toward Ethiopia, and eventually they arrive to the Itang refugee camp in Ethiopia.
On Thursday, February 23rd at 7 pm I attended the Department of Music Winter Concert that took place in Ogden. I got to experience a variety of selections that were played by both the Concert Band and the Symphonic Winds. I learned how instruments that differ from each other are able to connect in a way to make beautiful music. This musical event connection with humanities would have to do with creation, experience, and skill. All of those factors is something that was needed whether it was with certain civilizations creating architecture, religion, or writing.
The book Sunrises over Fallujah, by Walter Dean Myers was an accurate representation of the conflict in the Middle East. Myers incorporated real war strategies, like false intel and Improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The book was about strategy that the United States used called counterinsurgency. PTSD was a factor in this and it was brought on by everything in the war from seeing dead bodies from getting shot at.

In the book “A long walk to water” by: Linda Sue Park, is a book that takes place in Southern Sudan and features all the hardships Salva and Nya had to face while living there such as wild animals, wars, fights through tribes, lack of water and food. Hardships Salva faced in Southern Sudan are lack of water/ food, the wild animals, and the fighting/ war. One of the hardships Salva had to face in Southern Sudan is lack of water and food. In chapters 3-4 Salva had gotten water from a woman older than Salva’s mother that he had met after he was left alone, the woman gave Salva a gourd of water and a bag of raw peanuts.

Southern Sudan was in the middle of a war, this is one of the hardships Salva faced, along with lack of water, and lack of food. One day while Salva was in school, he heard a gunshot. He runs to a near bush, and this is what begins his long walk.
In south sudan a civil war broke out that shut down refugee camps killed thousands and one of them killed by being tied to a tree and shot. The main character in the long walk to water by Linda Sue Park is a young boy named salva. Salva is a young boy that gets separated from his family and is picked at random to go start a life in the U.S. in his journey for safety he crosses through lion country, fast rivers, and the Akobo desert all with only the support of his uncle. Salva manages to overcome many dangerous animals, dangerous territories, and the lose of many loved ones through his journey to safety.

The culture within the beautiful ecosystem of Appalachia is encased with family ties that are hard to deny. Rash writes, “In a county this rural, everyone’s connected, if not by blood, then in some other way” from the relationship between Darby and Gerald to the friendship between Les and Becky, their relationships show a true loyalty to the ones they have grown up with and show that Appalachia is a tight knit community (Rash 90). The characters within the novel: Above the Waterfall demonstrate signs of loss of self, domestic violence, as well as poverty.

The theme of both texts is in the face of obstacles, maintain perseverance in order to overcome them. Though both texts present the common theme in similar ways, there are also differences in their approach and development.

My answer to this artwork is based on my religious belief as a symbolic moment in the Jesus’ life. Every detail of this painting has a meaning and has a great impact on the Christian religion. I like this work of art because it alludes to the last super, where Jesus shared with his disciples before being betrayed and sacrificed. Leonardo Davinci according with his imagination and ideas, painted the possible reactions of the figures involved in the picture. The amount of movies that I have seen is small. I usually watch tv shows on Netflix, but there are few movies that I have seen and would recommend to one of the crucial characters in, Looking For Alaska. Five of the amazing movies include Mulan, Legally Blond, Matilda, Harry Potter, and The Help. Mulan is about a valiant girl who goes to war in place of her disabled father. This movie tells women that they can be just as strong as men, to fight for what you believe in, and to fight for those that you love.

Miles Halter is tired of his safe life at home and leaves for boarding school to seek what the dying poet Francois Rabelais called the "Great Perhaps.
