Lord Byron was one of the most famous poets of the Romantic Period, along with Percy B. Shelley and John Keats. Byron lived a scandalous and adventurous life and achieved many things that other poets during his time at a young age. During his lifetime, he created a reputation for himself and was named one of the greatest English poets of the nineteenth century. Byron’s reputation wasn’t the typical life of any other poet, he lived his life the way he wanted and didn’t let anything hold him back from doing what satisfied him. Even though he lived the life of a famous English poet, he died at an early age of 36 in Missolonghi, Greece. The taste of England had changed since he had been away and he was asked if he had written something else and that’s when the publishing of the first cantos of Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage changed his life. Childe Harold was published in 1812 in London and that Byron was one of the most known poets of the nineteenth century. Byron stated himself, “awoke one morning and found myself famous” (614), which was true because the first two cantos of Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage sold out. Byron’s taste then changed from men to fashionable women. In the mini-series, Byron began to have relation with a young lady named Caroline but she ran him off, causing him to marry Annabella. I feel that the film line up with Byron’s life. It seems to me that Nick Dear accomplished this biographical film of Byron and informing everyone on how Byron lived. The film actually made it clear on the life of Byron because it all seemed to go with the biography in the British Literature book as well.
