Lord Capulet Responsible For Romeo And Juliet's Death Essay

In the widely known play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare that takes place in Verona, Italy in the 1300’s two star-crossed lovers take their life. The ultimate reason their lives were taken was because of their long-term feud between their families which were the Capulets and Montagues. Romeo and Juliet got married within twenty-four hours of knowing each other and that same day Romeo kills Juliet’s cousin. The prince banished Romeo from what he did because he was tired of all the fighting that was going on between the two families. Later, after Romeo was banished Lord Capulet forcing Juliet to marry Paris which led to her faking her death. Romeo was not notified of this which led to him going to Verona, seeing Juliet dead, and then he committed suicide. Once Juliet woke up and saw Romeo dead, she committed suicide as well. Therefore, Lord Capulet was ultimately responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths.

The text stated, “I tell thee what get thee to church a Thursday. Or never after look me in the face” (Shakespeare 111). This shows Lord Capulet’s involvement in Romeo and Juliet’s death because he arranged this marriage for Juliet and said if she does not marry him then he will disown her. Therefore, that is why Juliet went to Friar Lawrence to see if he could offer any guidance. He suggested that she take a potion that would make her appear dead then he would get her out of the tomb and she could live with Romeo. However, this did not work out as expected so Romeo and Juliet both committed suicide. Thus, Lord Capulet is ultimately responsible for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because he was making her marry Paris and if she would not had been forced to marry him she would have never faked her death and Romeo and Juliet would not have
