William Golding's book Lord of the Flies, shows how evil humans are at heart. The book is about a group of British boys who crash on an island and slowly turn savage. Jack and Ralph are split into two groups and after all the conflict ends up with people dead. William Golding in his book Lord of the flies tells us that people are more evil than good. This is shown in the killing of Simon, the killing of Piggy, and the killing of the sow.

The first way is that because Jack didn’t accept the children for who they were, there was friction between him and the rest of the boys. In the first chapter, an attempt at civilization was made. Jack states that he himself should be elected chief, but he is ignored by the group of young castaways. Another boy from the back of the pack shouts that they should hold a vote, which, of course, everyone except Jack agrees to. The children elect Ralph as leader because of his welcoming and laid back character.
About halfway through Ralph says, “‘Vote for chief! Let’s vote!’” (22). Ralph has a strong grasp on the forming society, and is well liked by the general public on the island, save Jack. He uses his influence to keep order and rule across the island, “‘We’ve got to have rules and obey them,’” (42).
Ralph knows that he must not force rules upon the boys, but he must make his intentions and values clear. Throughout the entire book, Ralph turns to voting and consensus in order to make decisions. Everybody’s opinion matters, not solely
Ralph is like I said earlier upfront with his word, he is confident in his decisions and how he processes the things that have gone wrong. In the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding the ultimate one responsible for the destruction of the island is Jack. In the novel Golding has wrote about how a group of british boys crashed on a plane and landed on a island where there are no adults,just little british boys stranded on a island .In the beginning one of the boys Ralph was the responsible leader where he knew what to do an how to manage. But of course there was this one cureles jealous boy that wanted to be a leader,the one in charge. Because of how ruthless and savage Jack was he took the fear that the boys had within them and used it against them to make them join his tribe which started the destruction of the island.
If power falls into the wrong hands, things can end up terribly bad. This happens a lot in the world, but usually, there are a few good people who speak out against their cruel leader. These people are brave and intelligent in speaking their minds. Ralph’s group is a part of the few that spoke out against Jack, the oppressive leader. They knew what Jack was doing was wrong and did not join Jack’s group.
Although Jack expresses strong desire to become chief, the boys elect Ralph as a leader, suggesting an air of charisma that made him worthy of his position. He believes a leader has to “think, be wise… grab at a decision”, someone who can look after others and keep the group in

These disputes come up multiple times over the course of the novel. One of which being the fight over the leader of the boys. Some believed the leader should be Jack while others believed it should be Ralph.

From the Golding’s decision to use teenage boys as the main characters because of their disposition to behave recklessly to his use of the pig’s head to represent the devil, the story is a very effective cautionary
Near the end of their time on the island, Piggy, Sam, and Eric are the only ones left with Ralph, and Jack, who appears as “a chief now in truth; and he made stabbing motions with his spear” (Golding 168). Jack starts to get violent, and what was fun when they first got to the island become attempts to kill. At this point, Jack has fully taken over, and the only thing left for him to do is kill Ralph. Lord of the Flies exemplifies how when one person has all of the power, there is always somebody else that wants it more than that person. Ralph is not against Jack, nor does he want to fight with him for the chief position, but ambition and violence overtakes Jack, and he turns into a dangerous savage.
