Throughout the book the central conflict between two competing impulses that exist within human beings: the instinct to live by rules, act peacefully, follow moral commands, and value the good of the group against the instinct to gratify one’s immediate desires, act violently to obtain supremacy over others, and enforce one’s will. Throughout the novel, Golding associates the instinct of civilization with good and the instinct of savagery with evil. The conflict between the two instincts is the driving force of the novel, explored through the dissolution of the young English boys’ civilized, moral, disciplined behavior as they accustom themselves to a wild, brutal, barbaric life in the jungle. The fire shows how at the end they did not care and wanted to kill Ralph. The way they wanted to kill him was setting the Island on fire. This is why we have chosen the fire as a signal for evil .In the early parts of the novel, the fact that the boys maintain the fire is a sign that they want to be rescued and return to society. When the fire burns low or goes out, we realize that the boys have lost sight of their desire to be rescued and have accepted their savage lives on the island. Also because the boys needed a fire to survive and the only way they get the fire was from Piggies glasses. The glasses it self were a symbol because Piggy is the most intelligent boy in the group. The savages effectively take the power to make fire, leaving Ralph’s group helpless. The savagery always wants to dominate the civilized people and expressed it in they way of the spear facing towards the cloud because they think that they are more powerful than the others.The spear divides civilization and savagery. This elements are related because the fire is something that they did and did not care of the consequences. Fire is one of the important thing in the island. The english boy created the fire because it was the only hope of getting back but they did not realise that how savage Jack was and how at the end it was him who got them rescue. In the end Jack was the one who made all the rest of the english boys savage he made them wanna kill Ralph with the fire. The pigs itself were important to the novel because at the beginning of the novel Jack was assigned as the leader of the hunters. When they went out to hunt Jack saw a pig and they told him to kill him. Jack was too afraid to kill the pig. He let the pig got away. Ass time passes Jack no longer is afraid to kill. Time passes and as more and more away they are getting from civilization. The pigs scol shows how he is no longer a civilized person he has become a savage.
