William Golding wrote “ Lord of the Flies” in 1954, his first bestselling novel. The novel is an allegory about something people quite haven’t decided yet. The story can be connected to various thing. For Instance, some critics characterized the book as retelling episodes from the bible. They state that it echos certain christian images and theme. Such as, the island itself that the boys are in they encounter evil for the first time, and it is similar to The Garden of Eden where adam and eve learn their evils. The story consist of many characters, but the two characters that stood out to me the most is Ralph and Simon. Ralph, was known as the “ Golden Boy, “ he was cute and likeable ralph had all the power. He does thing he really does not really want to do. But, he uses his “ Power,” for what he thinks is best for the rest of the boys. In a scene he strips off his clothes and leaps like an animal. He goes into these changes and is completely different when returning back home. Now Simon, When he is introduced to the reader he is a walking mess showed every symptom of being weak, but he was far from weak! Simon does not turn into this dysfunctional savage, instead he is really wise and mature. He's one who understands the beast. He’s more portrayed as a prophetic role in the story. When speaking about power it corrupts us when we know we have ALL the power. It makes us feel untouchable we take advantage. Limited power, makes us better as leaders. In lord of the Flies, Ralph gets more mature with his power, but Jack turns into this wild savage. Another theme is Fear, “ Only thing we have to fear is fear itself, “ ( 1933, Franklin D Roosevelt) Fear is the most dangerous thing on the earth. In this story the boys are fear of the unknown beast they do not know what is going to happen, but they end up being scared of their true selves and each
