The face of evil is the single greatest obstacle in the modern society. This is due to the insurmountable implementations of evil in the past. This however changed by the implementation of laws and other standards that decreased the room for evil to exist. This however is apparent in history because of the creation of World War 2. This creation of this war was fueled by the impact of pure evil existent in society leaders. This impact of World War 2 created William Golding to write the Lord of the Flies. The savagery of each individual ultimately starts with Jack. Jack begins this book by claiming the boys are not savages but becomes the first to turn to chaos.”Next time there will be no mercy” (31). This quote describes his thought and language process that is running though his head after he has failed to kill the pig that was in his hands. In the beginning of the book, the boys elect Ralph as the leader but as the story continues the power is diverted from Raph and forced upon Jack..Jack first gains his power by first implementing fear into each individual of the beast that lives in the island. He creates fear and claims that he is the only person that protect them from the beast and provide meat for the children. This is important because Jack realizes power is not coming from him but the children. He realizes if he does create this fear, the children will come running at him and then he will control the power, but evilness is seen when he abuses this power. Jack has used his power to first steal Piggy’s glasses that will help him make the fire. One example is when Jack commands his tribe to tie up the little nuns. “He's been tied for hours, waiting-' 'But didn't the Chief say why?'”(110). This is another example because he uses his power to Jack, orders his tribe to tie up Wilfred and punish him for no absolute
