In the movie, Lord of the Flies (Castle Rock Productions, 1990), from a psychological perspective, many issues can be identified throughout the movie. The issues that were present in the movie involved the following topics, adolescence, aggression and personality theory. There are only about two adults in the movie, which have small parts other than the pilot. The main focus on the movie was upon the children. The children’s ages varied but, it can be assumed that the children were in their pre teens to teens. The children are in an inhabited island, where there were a hand full of conflicts that determined their behavior throughout the movie. Aggression can be defined as any physical or verbal actions that will result within harming someone mentally or physically. From the start of the movie, there are some sort of actions that can be seen as aggression from Jack. Within the first twenty minutes into the movie, Jack started to bully Piggy, Jack called Piggy “Piggy” and everyone laughs other than Ralph. The action of Jack towards Piggy can be seen as aggression in a verbal manner. Within the first forty minutes into the movie, a child was fishing. Jack and some other children started to chuck rocks at the child fishing. The child was on the shore on a rock with big waves crashing the rock, if the child would get hit, he would have gotten injured or in a worst case scenario, he would have died. Instead of doing work or helping the others, Jack chose to messing around with the child fishing. When exploring the forest, Jack discovered pigs on the island. Soon Jack starts to hunt for the pig. Throughout the movie, Jack becomes more determined on hunting the pig. It can be seen that Jack has a obsession on hunting and harming. In one of Jack’s hunting attempt, he failed, but Jack puts blood on his cheek. The blood on his cheeks are as if he was wearing war paint. An average child would not put blood on his
