The book Lord of The Flies and the documentary “I Am Alive” explore the topic of survival and moral rights. Lord of The Flies is more of a people vs self, while “I Am Alive” focus on people vs nature. Although they bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Lord of The Flies and “I Am Alive” are evident. To determine who was better in a situation of survival I will compare and contrast the book Lord of The Flies and the documentary “I Am Alive”.

In Lord of The Flies, a group of schoolboy crash lands on an island that has warm weather and a food source. On the contrary in “I Am Alive,” a group of adults crashes lands on the Andes Mountains where the weather there is cold and had very limited food supplies. Unlike in Lord of The Flies, the boy did had a very good food supplied and did not had to resort to eating the dead to stay alive like in “I Am Alive”. Although, in Lord of The Flies the boys are fighting between savagery and civilization, meanwhile, the people in “I Am Alive” are fighting the cold and starvation. In Lord of The Flies the boy automatically picks the leader that looks the most like a leader which is Ralph, and in “I Am Alive” the people from the plane chooses the one that shows the most intelligence who is Nando. Conversely, the boys from the island became savage by killing the living flesh, unlike the people from the mountains that did not become savage from eating human flesh. Also that the Lord of The Flies is a fiction novel and an allegory, while the “I Am Alive” is a documentary of a true story.
Convincingly, I think the “I Am Alive” people has the better survival skill than the boys in the Lord of The Flies. In the “I Am Alive” documentary it tells the story of a group of people having no experience of the cold weather, having to eat their own dead friend's body in order to survive and having only their faith to keep them from pushing
