The logos used in this advertisement would be the average number of girls that will become pregnant, which would be almost 750,000. This statistic puts into perspective how many teenage girls are becoming pregnant and that the prevention of teen pregnancy is reasonable because there is already an abundant amount of young girls being pregnant. The ethos portion of the advertisement
I. The title of this article is A Host of Trouble by Emma Schwartz. It was published on September 29, 2007 in U.S. News & World Report. II. The main point of this article is to shine light of the fact that more parents are being made liable for their teens’ parties.
It is also important that we provide accurate and proven sexual classes to our students. More than 80% of Americans believe that a form of sexual education should be taught in schools.5 The majority of these people believe that this education should be focused on various forms of birth control. Currently the federal government provides funds for these evidence-based types of education through the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative and the Personal Responsibility Education Program. I will support programs that seek to expand funding for programs that teach a variety of birth control methods
It’s similar to the scene in the film “Mean Girls” with the coach teaching health class: “Don’t have sex: you’ll get pregnant and die.” (Waters, Fey, & Michaels "Mean Girls" 2004). The association with drugs and unprotected sex in the same category is not what children should be taught. Crank perpetuates this when the author makes Kristina get pregnant by a fellow lowlife. This single story is telling young people that unprotected sex and drugs fall hand in hand, what is not true.
A year after Diana’s death she was not forgotten but acknowledged in different ways. In the article Time, Anne-Marie O’Neill and Kim Hubbard published an article on A Lesson in Loss. The article quotes “Her grieving ex-husband was touched the most by her death, Charles is the one showing the effects of his loss.” Charles is now the good guy who is the single parent.
Dang uses oversimplification logic by suggesting solution to help students all while keeping the pub open. The solutions proposed include; stricter punishments for underage drinkers, a week of alcohol abusive education, and providing shuttle services so students can return home safely. Ad bominem argument is used when Dang implies that colleges only ban alcohol because they don’t trust their student and by banning alcohol they are taking the easy way out by saying the students were not on campus. Therefore, the college is not responsible for that student. In the concluding paragraph of this essay, it states that even medical practitioners dink from time to time.
The actors and actresses went through many scenarios to show the audience the importance of being smart and safe when having sex. In one scene, a girl realized that she was pregnant with a guy’s baby who she had only known and dated for only a short period of time. The girl was afraid, felt she was too young to have a child, and struggled with what she should do. She confided in her friend, and her friend scolded her for being so careless. The pregnant girl regretted her decision and was then forced to make a tough choice that would affect her for the rest of her life.
The advertisement Rethink drink, produced by the Australian anti-drinking campaign, is an advertisement that supports responsible drinking. The advert is set at a home party and is about a woman who presumably loses her unborn baby because an intoxicated man at a party tripped and bumped her into a bench. The advertising techniques that will be explored are Mise-en-Scene, mood, and pacing; all of these elements are important to support and the emphasis of the adverts message and how the advert persuades the audience to drink responsibly. The advertisement clearly and effectively positions the audience to respond to the issue of irresponsible drinking. Mise-en-Scene is notably used throughout Rethink drink to emphasis the adverts message.
I find that just preaching abstinence, as the only way to go is not effective sexual education. It’s key that we teach about birth control and Sexually Transmitted Infections as our society is becoming more sexually active so it’s important that they learn how to have safe sex. Planned Parenthood encourages its patients to make informed decisions and provide an environment where they feel comfortable to ask any questions. If people don’t practice safe sex, they are at risk of getting a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STIs).
It left them sick, made them unable to have anymore children and in some serious cases resulted in their deaths, and even after so much suffering many women remained pregnant. Yet, not only was it the controversial practice of abortions that Planned Parenthood was offering, but also contraceptives that ultimately eliminated a vast need for abortions as well. Their steady supplying of contraceptives and the organization’s goal to educate women about safe sex helped lower not only teen pregnancies but unwanted ones as
Controlling pregnancy in our world and the Brave New World There are multiple forms of trusted contraception in the world, but the most advanced method that allows women to eventually become pregnant if they choose is the pill. There was once a time when birth control in the pill form was appalling and socially frowned upon, however in today’s society there is an enormous mass of over 12 million women currently relying on the birth control pill (Smith 1). The birth control pill was invented in 1950 and before then people had more kids and were much more cautious about their sex lives as they knew if they were not responsible they would have more children than they desired or could care for. However, just since the pill was invented and passed
But while it has succeeded in that, it is also believed that tougher rules, such as DUI rules and seatbelt safety rules have also played a part in this decrease. However, this higher drinking age hasn’t reduced drinking, its only “driven it underground,” Gabrielle Glaser states in her NY Times article. It has been driven underground to the riskiest settings, high school parties and frat parties that are unsupervised. This age raise segregates the drinking away from adults that can model moderation in drinking. If an 18-year-old high school senior is shown by his/her parent(s) how to drink responsibly and in moderation, I believe that it would greatly help in reducing the chance of making bad decisions by overdoing it, such as driving while drinking.
This leads to an enormous amount of illegal drinking on campus. In the end, I favor lowering the drinking age to 19, which would help solve the problem of illegal drinking on campus while still making it illegal for high school students to drink, thereby limiting the flow of legally (and easily) purchased alcohol into younger adolescents’ social networks,” (Steinberg, 5). Many may argue the amount of D.U.I related accidents this may bring forth ; However, the Health Research Fund states that in many countries around the world where they have a lower legal drinking age,” they have seen a greater reduction of drunken driving accidents than the United States, where the legal age is 21.” (“Pros and Cons of Lowering the Drinking Age”) This also states that many of those accidents are related to “thrill” drinking due to the fact that it is somewhat “thrilling” to break the law.
An investigation into the impacts of sex education on pregnancy levels, however, differs with Kohler et al. (349) by finding sex education as an effective approach to reducing pregnancy levels among adolescents (Chin et al. 282). Conclusion 1.
Teenage pregnancy is becoming a societal problem that branches out to other problems that it is caused for the growth of poverty rate in different baranggays. One of the reasons why teenagers are already aware with this topic is because of media. They get a higher knowledge to sex from the magazines, TV shows, internet, movies and other
