In the beginning of this chapter, the monster lectures Frankenstein on how every living being has a mate, except itself. The creature now proceeds to threaten its creator. One of the things the monster says to Victor Frankenstein is," Beware, for I am fearless and therefore powerful." (206) The creature has lived alone for years, most of the time it lived in a forest. Forests are home to many insects, snakes, and other dangerous animals. By surviving there it has lost all fear, therefore, he is fearless. Being fearless means that it is not afraid of most things. Power can come from being of a higher social class, having control over someone, or -in this case- having control over one 's fears. Now he will not back down from his threats. The
