The Lost Battalion is a fact-based World War One film, A film that displays a group of brave American soldiers who breached enemy lines in France who fought for ‘safer democracy’ against the German forces, at the time these brave men were given the name of, “The Lost Battalions” after all communications were cut off from their homeland in the US. Throughout the film American dignity is portrayed while also identifying many aspects of connections such as the values of, immigration, weapons of war, life inside trenches and lastly the willingness to fight for our nation. These acts of bravery was shown in the film in the trenches were soldiers gave a pep talk to the rest of the troops and said, “when you go face to face with a mut-crunching-heiny bastard with these at the end of your riffle, you better stick it in him, before he sticks it in you” other commander follows up with, “That’s something you should worry about'' I like this scene because it displays what it took to be a troop in world war at this time, the mentality of going into battle knowing your going to die is what kept you going, not room to back down but room for bravery. Bravery comes in all sorts of situations but a connection I was able to make between American bravery with the willingness to fight for your country and immigration. Immigration is a brave act that is rarely spoken about, it takes a huge amount of sacrifice to leave your country and have the willingness to go to another one just for the opportunity at a better life. A quote I found from a reliable source explains my reasoning further. It says, “Making that kind of sacrifice takes a great deal of courage. The courage that immigrants have. A courage that all of them have.” and, “Immigrants have been making an impact on this country for a long, long time. We have worked. We have gone to school.
