The title of this book is lost in the barrens. It is a fiction book by Farley Mowat that contains 244 pages. The main characters are Jamie, Awasin, Uncle Angus, Denikazi and Peetyuk. Jamie seems like a caring and friendly,teen but he can also get pretty frustrated. Jamie’s parents died so his uncle is to take care of him. Jamie doesn’t like change, but he is very brave. Awasin is a First Nation who is used to the wilderness. He is brave, but he also doesn't like it when people tell him what to do. Awasin is very smart and enjoys celebrating and talking about the First Nation traditions. Uncle Angus loves his family. He enjoys helping Jamie with his schooling. While being lost and hurt they find ways to survive by searching for trees, food and a way to find their way home. These events make you realize that the climax is coming! The climax of this book is when Jamie and Awasin get lost in a blizzard trying to find their way back to the forest. It is very intense and they already have snow blindness.

The resolution of Lost in the Barrens is while the two boys find and Eskimo igloo. Awasin and Jamie decide to stay in one of the igloo’s until the blizzard passes. Peetyuk, one of the Eskimos find the boys and helps them back to his camp. Awasin and Jamie were scared because they were taught to never trust the Eskimos but Peetyuk was really kind. The reason why there was tension between the Eskimos and the Cree is because they were equally scared of each other. The Conclusion is when Jamie and Awasin return Mcnair lake.

My personal favorite part of Lost in the Barrens is the time when Jamie Mcnair found a helmet and a sword from the old stone house. During his attempt to scare Awasin with these items he trips over a rock and the whole trick failed! I love this part of the story because it is so funny and I love a little laugh in a very serious
