Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was a trumpeter, bandleader, singer, soloist, film star and comedian. Armstrong considered one of the most intriguing artists in jazz history, he known for his songs like Star Dust, La Via En Rose & What a Wonderful World. Armstrong nicknamed Satchmo, Pops and also Ambassador Satch born on August 4, 1901, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Armstrong died in his home in his hometown Queens, New York, on July 6, 1971. In New Orleans, Louisiana, in an area filled with poverty that it was nicknamed the battlefield. In 1918, he married Daisy Parker, a prostitute, ironic right. At this time, Armstrong adopted a three year old boy called Clarence. Reason of the adoption because Clarence’s mother had died due to the birth of Clarence. Clarence, who had become mentally disabled from a head injury he had since he was at a young age, was taken care of by Armstrong throughout his entire life. Armstrong was obligated to remain in New Orleans but in the summer of 1922, he received a call from King Oliver to come to Chicago and join his Creole Jazz Band. Armstrong accepted and he was taking to Chicago immediately. Sharing both of their skills becoming remarkably great to Jazz ears as a band, Oliver and Armstrong. Oliver and Armstrong made their first recordings together on April 5, 1923. Due to that action Armstrong earned his first solo on Chimes Blues. Now excelling to New York, in New York, Armstrong cut dozens of records creating inspirational jazz with other greats like Sidney Bechet and Bessie Smith. But back in Chicago, OKeh Records decided to let Armstrong make his first records with his own band under his name, Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five. In the summer of 1929, Armstrong headed back to New York, where he had gotten a role in a Broadway production. Allowing Armstrong to record popular songs like I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Star Dust and Body and Soul. Armstrong's amazing vocal transformations of these songs completely changed the way of singing in America’s trending music. And also had lasting effects on singers who went after him like Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Armstrong continued a graduating touring schedule into the late 1950s, but it reached him in 1959 where he had a heart attack while traveling in Spoleto, Italy. But Armstrong didn’t let that stop him and his music. After taking a few weeks off to recover, he was back on the road performing 300 nights a year into the 1960s. And in 1967, Armstrong recorded a new song, What a Wonderful World. Different from most of his recordings of his genre, the song involves no trumpet and places Armstrong's amazing voice in the middle of intriguing instruments. Armstrong sang amazingly, thinking of his hometown in Queens. What a Wonderful World received promotion in the US. The song did become a number one hit around the world including in England and South
