In the short story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto teaches us a lesson that if you work hard you will succeed. A scientist named Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” In the beginning of the story, we notice how Lupe learns that hard work pays off.
He was never willing to give up, not when running, or fighting for his life in the prison he found himself trapped in. People really are willing to suffer, and give up their lives to keep us safe. Louis had a lot of confidence in anything he did. He had a healthy kind of confidence, which I think helped him win so many races, set so many records, and make it through the rough patches in his life. WIthout confidence, how do you expect to achieve great things?
Runner, prisoner of war camp survivor, and Olympic medalist are three attributes that describe Louis Zamperini. Many people know that Louis Zamperini was an Olympic medalist, but he was so much more. As a well known Olympic medalist, Louis Zamperini, showed Americans that they could get through anything if they just pushed themselves to the limit. He left a lasting legacy as a prisoner of war survivor. Louis’s life started during his childhood were he became a troublemaker and had many near death experiences.
The reasoning behind why I believe he is very determined is because, Louis was always waiting for his next task and ready to tackle anything in his way. When his plane crashed on the landing strip he was determined to get to their new plane and take off right away because Louis never likes anything holding him back. Also when their plane crashed in the water, and they were stranded in the middle of the ocean Louis always had a positive attitude and was determined to make sure his group stayed alive and got out safely. Some ways he helped the team out while they were stranded were, being on the lookout for anyone or anything, catching fish and birds to eat, and also Louis always had a positive attitude that they would make it out alive. On the other hand, Louis is also an extremely fast runner.
Anthem by Ayn Rand, Equality 7-2521 is creating electricity. Knowing his invention of light would impact mankind, he did it out of spite of doing what he loved, science. Also, making people happy and sharing his ideas with the world. Equality’s primary motivation is inventing something that the House of Scholars had never seen before.
Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “Determine never to be idle... it is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing”. What Jefferson means by this that people should aim to always be doing. He wanted it to be clear that hard work means success. A part of being successful means to show determination.

I believe he said this because he was derided for what he was doing, but he was not going to stop. The quote relates to my struggles backpacking 90 miles in New Mexico. Even though it may of been the most difficult thing I have done, I did not give up. I endured the challenge and achieved a level of success I had only dreamed of. I had been backpacking before, but when I had heard of Philmont, a scout camp out in New Mexico, I was exceptionally excited.

Jacques Cousteau wanted to invent a way to breathe underwater furthering his work undersea. Cousteau was determined to show the world, somehow, what mysteries lie beneath the water.
Therefore, one should not waste their time on idleness and inactiveness, but instead with productivity and industriousness. Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “Work while it is called today, for you know not how much you will be hindered tomorrow. One today is worth two tomorrow's; never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.” This quote by Jefferson signifies that each day is of value and that no day should be wasted. He is trying to help people understand that at any moment their life could end and they would not be able to make up the lost time.
Opening paragraph The French Revolution was a major failure and a minor success. After all of the blood shed, the laws, civil rights, and codes did not get instituted effectively and did not represent the values that the citizens had fought for. Examples of this were the Napoleonic Code and Declaration of Rights of Man. Another reason it was a failure was because during the revolts and reforms more than 40,000 men and women died.
