Most of his lines were contour lines which suggested volume. Each of the four walls are symmetrically balanced. In addition the mural shows texture because the lines and shades of light and dark paint makes it look like one could touch whatever is being displayed in the

They lead your eyes to the large boat, onward to the bottom, where there are animals boarding it. The lines are also very sharp. They outline the shapes in the painting, giving the shapes a clear border. The next element is shape. The shapes are at very sharp angles.
Do you ever just stop and think about the architectures that surround you every day? Maybe about how they were made, or what the inspiration was behind building them? People are often not aware of how the buildings came to be, they just care that it is there now. When you stop to think about the historical descriptions of how the buildings were made, you start to realize why the construction of these buildings are the way they are. Men like Vanderbilt, Carnegie, and Rockefeller constructed these structures to serve a purpose for others around them.
Thomas A. Dorsey was a key influencer in the evolution of Gospel music and responsible for introducing the Blues into black church music. Thomas A. Dorsey was originally from Georgia and made his way up to the urban city of Chicago, Illinois along with many other African-Americans from the South during the great migration to the North. Dorsey was originally a Blues musician and composer that traveled as an entertainment pianist. Later in his career life he turned to Gospel music in the church and is known to have composed over 400 Gospel Songs including his most famous song “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. Though Dorsey was faced initially with lots of opposition for introducing Bmusic into black churches, he strongly pushed for his music to be heard, and for this he is known as the “Father of Gospel Music”.
The main element of Art in this photograph is Line. From the grass leading up to the front of the church to the boards along the church wall a line forms it all. The line upon the church boards
John Carroll helped spread Catholicism all throughout the United States. One person in particular that helped teach was Elizabeth Seton. In 1812, she was giving approval to create the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph (Boylan). This would lead to her founding many other Catholic women’s schools that would become a foundation from schools across the United States for even non Catholics (Boylan). Most importantly though, after her death in 1821 of tuberculosis Pope Paul VI declared her a saint (Boylan).
Awed by this stalwart activist and with visions of the petite lady and her troop of Girl Scouts standing arm-in-arm defiantly defending the stained glass from burly and befuddled construction workers, I stepped out of my car, which gave the enthusiastic conversationalist time to catch her breath. The dialogue moved to the sidewalk and the shade of a nearby shop awning, where the discourse progressed to a casual exchange. I spoke of my trip home from Ames and my desire to indulge in the artistry of Louis Sullivan’s architectural genius. She disclosed that her husband had been a banker and that they had become enamored by Sullivan’s work while living in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, not far from Sullivan’s Owatonna bank.
Louis Armstrong, also known as Satchmo or Pops, was a very influential man in music. He was born on August 4th, 1901, and rose to prominence as an African American musician during the 1920's, when several African Americans were making serious advances in music. He was very influential in changing jazz from a collective of players to solo performances. He was a very talented trumpet player and singer, and is still relevant in music today. I know people my age who still listen to him.
As referenced in Oxford Languages, a hero is “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” However, there is more to a hero than that. They must be pioneers and do something no one has ever done before to be respected. Louis Armstrong was among the most influential figures in the history of jazz. Brave people, past or present, are commonly called heroes.
‘’The responsible for much of the reconstruction were the architects of the Chicago School; some of the most prominent architects were L. Henry Sullivan and William LeBaron Jenney. These architects considered almost visionaries applied to architecture engineering principles and managed to raise the first skyscraper replacing the traditional wooden structures and brick by frames of cement. ’’ After the fire a larger Chicago emerged. Today, Chicago is a culturally diverse and dynamic city, and an international center for business and leisure due in part to the availability of the city through transportation.
However, when it was time for him to study, jewellery design was one of the few courses available at Sydney College of Art was one of the few subjects available that allowed him to design and create individual pieces or objects. Although the subject available at the time was arbitrary, it strongly influenced and inspired his future designs. Using his experience in jewellery, he planned industrial and furniture designs. This can be seen in one of his most notable pieces, the Lockheed Chair, which he regarded as “wearable body art”. (The Culture Clue,
Graphic designer, Louise Fili, grew up in an Italian-American family in New Jersey and fell in love with the homeland of her parents at the age of 16 years. Since then, her passion for design, typography and Italian food has influenced her career as a designer. Fili went to study studio arts at Skidmore College but instead found graphic design, as she states in an interview “I went to Skidmore College where, if you couldn’t paint, they told you that you were graphically oriented. That’s when I found out what graphic design was.”. Later in the 1970’s, she completed her final semester at the School of Visual Arts in New York and at the age of 25 she become senior designer for Herb Lubalin.
He also uses the Ten Books on Architecture written by Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446) to show Brunelleschi’s architecture and mathematical perspective to us. He uses footnotes to justify his statements he makes and does not provide a bibliography, but in the end of the book he does accredit all the pictures he has in his book. I do believe this book is very valuable to historians seeking to understand the past because this book shows how important and influential was this era of innovation and “new way of thinking”. The author does not show any prejudicial in any way and the author successfully fulfills his
Even though these two iconic structures come from different cultures and times- they show some similarities in their construction and design elements.
