Background Love for the Elderly is a 501 © (3) nonprofit organization with its main headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. Created December of 2013, LFTE has numerous volunteers throughout 56 countries whose mission is “bringing joy into the lives of the elderly.” The sole purpose of this nonprofit is to encourage others to connect with their elders, thus bridging age barriers. Cramer created several programs that allows one to engage with the elderly worldwide. There is Letters of Love which is where one writes letters to seniors, Senior buddies where the youth and those living in assisted living form pen-pal relationships, Sunshine Box which is distributing boxed filled with treats to those in the nursing home, and the Social Impact Program which is a strategy created to inspire others to show more compassion to our senior citizens. They find opportunities by looking for different ways to improve (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). Jacob began working for the community at the age of 13. He was able to turn his grief into a movement to help stop loneliness in the elderly community. Letters of Love was only the beginning of his adventure. In February of 2016 the program know as Senior Buddy was created. Isolated senior citizens were paired with student in a pen-pal program. At the beginning of the school year students are connected with a senior citizen and throughout the course of the schoolyear they exchange letters. 2016-2017 was a definitely a memorable year for many in the program.
