How lying effects you and your relationships Love is a very strong word but many people don’t use it properly because they don’t know the true meaning of love. Some love stories are filled with love and happiness, because some couples manage their relationships the right way. Other love stories are not based on true love, the relationship only last for a short period of time because one partner decides to lie half the time to make themselves look good. Lies are not what make a person look good it is what they say or make up to make themselves look like a good person. People get into problems that can only get worse and all they want to do is find a quick solution. In the story “Love in L.A.” by Dagoberto Gilb, it is easy to sense right away that Jake the main character is lying to get away from the car accident he got into with Mariana. Once someone gets themselves out of an issue they feel relieved because they know everything will be good as stated in the story “his sense of freedom swelled as he drove into the now moving street traffic” (Gilb 470). People that lie to save themselves problems often feel relieved after because they know they have escaped getting in trouble. Lying can protect anyone, only if they are good at making lies, some people are accustomed to lying that they can tell a lie without thinking twice about it.
