In “Of Mice and Men”, Steinbeck is writing about loyalty and friendship. George was very loyal to Lennie even after all of Lennies scandalous acts, Curley had wanted to make sure that his wife is safe, and another example would be that Candy’s dog was Cany’s best friend. Although Lennie and George had their differences, their friendship and loyalty towards each other shines throughout the story. Lennie had said “You said I was your cousin!” and George had replied with “That was a lie. If I was a relative of yours, I’d shoot myself.
