Luna Fortun Research Paper

My chosen inspirational makeup artist is Luna Fortun. Fortun is a 19 year old self-taught make-up artist from Miami, Florida. She started of her journey on her Instagram (Fortun, 2018) in September 2015 where she creates dramatic, avant-garde and editorial makeup looks. (Carothers, 2018) “Fortun breaks stereotypical beliefs with her incredible artistry, creating many unique looks and posting them to social media sites, gaining much recognition.” She shot to fame after posting a viral photograph to her Instagram on the 15th June 2017 [figure 1.] where she produced a sunset reflection look on her eyes. This photograph was very popular within the make-up community where in just 17 days she gained 36.22 thousand followers. [Figure 2.] She now currently has 333 thousand followers which continues to increase daily.

Social media plays a large part in the make-up and beauty community, by using social media it gives everyone the opportunity to grow and show their creativity in their own unique way. Where she created a classic smoky eye look with dramatic eyeliner and then went on to add aluminium foil for the brows to give the appearance a unique and editorial approach. Although this was an adventurous look it became a hit as many found it to be pleasing to the eye and captured the theme she was looking for.
