Lyndon B. Johnson Lyndon was born in Texas on August 27, 1909. He was elected vice President of the United States in 1960. Lyndon became the 36th President in 1963, after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Johnson did some good things as President, he reinforced the Roosevelt paradigm and cemented modern liberalism with the “Great society” program. Lyndon had a strong liberal ideology when it came to domestic affairs. He believed government was legally bound and obligated to take care of the disadvantaged and protect the welfare of society.
