MDMA Or Ecstasy

116 Words1 Pages
MDMA also known as Ecstasy, is a synthetic, psychoactive hallucinogen. It creates feelings of increased energy, euphoria, and distortions in sensory and time perception. MDMA was initially popular amongst young adults, but now affects a wider span of users ranging from underaged children to older adults. MDMA is taken orally, usually as a capsule or tablet. It is commonly taken in combination with other drugs and the effects last approximately from 3 to 6 hours. The emotional and effects of MDMA are likely caused by the release of large amounts of serotonin, which influences mood, appetite and sleep. Heavy MDMA users experience symptoms such as long-lasting confusion, depression, sleep abnormalities, and problems with attention and memory.
