Montclair State University is capable of providing me with the valuable education I seek while keeping me engaged. I am applying for the BA/MA in general psychology and this accelerated program perfectly suits my educational goals. I have always had a distinct interest in psychology and MSU has a compelling psychology department with many resources that I would be able to take full advantage. Along with the academic benefits, living so close to home is very convenient as campus is only about an hour drive from my home in central Jersey. Adjusting to college is no simple task and being so close to home rather than going to another state or across the country would make the process all the more simpler. Throughout my high school years, I have taken increasingly harder classes while keeping my grades up. My freshman year of high school I was generally an A and B student but now it is safe to say that I am a solid A student. I have always been determined to achieve my goals and I quickly realized that the more work I put into my ademics, the less it felt like a chore. With my dedication to work harder now in order to ensure a preferred future, working to improve all aspects of my life became a necessary practice. Rather than playing video games or hanging out with friends after getting home from school as I did during middle school and freshman year of high school, I began getting all of my work done and preparing for upcoming tests. Many days this would cause me to go to bed before I got to do the things I enjoy, but I learned that this extra effort released a lot of stress that came from worrying about due dates on school work as well as performing poorly on exams.
