Raliat Tijani The first time I stepped into Montclair State University few weeks ago, I discovered that MSU is a school that fulfills all my need to spend the next four years of my life in. Every aspect, from the flexible academics to its urban environment, to the diversity of the student body seems to offer what I hope to gain for my college experience. As a senior who intends to pursue a career in Health and medicine but still undecided on a major, I believe MSU would be a great place for me to explore and pick a major that is just right. MSU has a gorgeous location. When I visited I was captivated with the safe and cozy feeling. I instantly pictured myself as a Red Hawk. The small town environment is comforting without being limited, offering plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops to explore. I loved the fact that its location was less than two hours from home and few miles from the city. Above all, it is the student community at MSU that has attracted me the most. …show more content…

Situation that had a negative impact on my academic situation was the sense of being part of the crowd. Coming to the United States at the age of eight, having a very strong accent made it extremely hard for people to understand what I was saying and starting school in the middle of the school year left with no friends in school and getting bullied for coming from africa made me extremely shy, difficult to join clubs and hard to speak out in public. I felt very jealous seeing other students doing things together, posting pictures on social network and planning to hang out after school that when I moved to Jackson in the eighth grade I decided to start over to do whatever it took for me to make friends and it wouldn't be like when I first
