MUSC215 Course Reflection

Due to the subject matter in MUSC215, for this entire semester, I have been using a lot of information processing and learning strategies. Those strategies include me looking over previous notes and encouraging students to do that before and during my session. Another positive in this situation is that students would be coming from the MUSC215 class then to my session so the information is fresh in their heads. With using this strategy the most, I take the information and make it relatable to our lifestyles as young adults. Almost every week I am able to tie the topic back to either my life, their life, or just something relatable and I believe it makes the subject matter easier the remember, making it useful in the sessions and creating a dialogue instead of me lecturing to …show more content…

According to the text, “….a goal of learning is to incorporate new information into existing organization of memory”. This article does resonate with me personally because I am one to seek information about the background or prior knowledge in things because I feel it is important for me to know moving forward and learning the overall information that ties into the subject that is being taught in class. I personally google search and make a list of things to search later and it always gives me a greater understanding. Using this information would be great in tutoring sessions also because it will give students that overall well-rounded experience in understanding. It is not discussed in class because there simply is not enough time for that, so it is important that students use their studying time to venture on their own. It would also be useful if tutoring sessions spent maybe 5 minutes giving background knowledge to some things, it could link a lot of information and
