Main characters 12-year-old Poppy lives in the literal underworld—one of the old buildings left to rot beneath the now-elevated town. The conflict is when Ma Brenna found out that she was missing some money and she went crazy. The climax is when Poppy had escaped in the middle of the night because she met the butterworths so she went their in slept in the goat barn. The falling action is when the butterworths declared her as a stealer because they were missing some jewelry. Justin was so afraid that he wouldn't be able to work at the jewelry store because he gave someone some jewelry.They are on the search for Poppy.
