David Ms. Ben-Ishai ENG2D-13 April 30, 2023 Macbeth Adaptation - Betrayal: The Story of Luke Orlov Act 1 Luke Orlov is a high school student from Markham, who plays AAA hockey and has big dreams of making it to the OHL. Luke, along with playing AAA hockey is also the assistant captain of his school, Ambrose High’s, varsity hockey team. One day, Luke is playing a game for his school hockey team, and in the stands, he notices a man with an OHL jacket scouting the game, and taking notes on his and his friend Nikita Ekblad, the captain of the school hockey team, and their performance. During his game, Luke takes a bad hit, injuring his ribs, but refuses to sit the game, as he knows that this is his one shot at making an impression on an OHL …show more content…

They bond over their suspicions regarding Luke and Nikita. Act 5 Nikita has finally healed from his head trauma, though still unable to play hockey competitively. and is still confused as to how he was injured, and why he was not drafted. He can not get a hold of Luke, so in school, he asks Patrick if he knows why and how all of this happened. Patrick, shaking with anxiety denies knowing anything about Nikita going undrafted or his injuries. As this is happening, Amelia and Jared join in on the conversation and start questioning Patrick as well. Patrick feels an immense amount of guilt and responsibility for what he and Luke did to Nikita, who he knows deserved it more than Luke, and ends up succumbing to the pressure, and spills what happened. Not only that, but he showed them the written plan they formulated. Jared takes a picture of the plan, and posts it on Twitter, calling out and exposing Luke for what he did. Luke ends up getting removed from the league, and with Nikita being unable to play, Jared takes Luke’s spot and becomes a late addition to the Barrie Colts. …show more content…

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth is given a prophecy by three witches who claim that he will rise to power and become king. Throughout his pursuit for power, he goes on a reign of terror, personally killing the king, Duncan, in order to take his place, and his best friend, Banquo, simply because he has suspicion that if he does not, he won't be able to maintain the throne. He becomes known as an oppressive and power-crazed king, and many people want to take him down. In my adaptation, Luke has big dreams of making it to the OHL, but finds out through an anonymous source known as Bellatrix that he will only make it if he “clears the competition”. Similarly to Macbeth, Luke does heinous things in order to clear the path to greatness.
