In the play “Macbeth” by William Shakespeare, Shakespeare uses a variety of supernatural elements. Shakespeare uses the imaginary dagger to symbolize the death of Duncan. Macbeth just finished talking to Banquo and sees an imaginary dagger in front of him.” I,go, and it is done; the bell invites me. hear it not, Duncan; for it is a knell that summons thee to heaven or hell.” (Act II.I 63-65). Macbeth is gonna kill Duncan and made his mind up at the end of the scene and he says “summons thee to heaven or hell.” which indicates that he is gonna kill Duncan. It proves that the dagger symbolizes the death in Duncan as it “lured” him to his room and Macbeth made the ultimate decision to kill Duncan. There’s no such thing. It is the bloody business which informs Thus to mine eyes.”(Act II.I 45-48). Macbeth is saying that he sees Duncan’s blood on his blade and Duncan dead on his bed. Macbeth doesn’t really see the dagger but it’s the murder he is about to commit to make him see it. This piece of evidence tells us that Macbeth is gonna kill Duncan and he admits that he doesn’t see it but says that he sees it because he is gonna murder Duncan. Macbeth is seeing an imaginary dagger and is talking to himself and says he was gonna use one just like that one in front of him.”I see thee yet, in form as palpable As this which now I draw. Thou marshall’st me the way that I was going, And such an instrument I was to use.”(II.I 41-44). Macbeth sees the imaginary dagger and follows it and says he has a dagger just like the one in front of him and was gonna use it and he was going to the place the dagger was taking him to. This supports my evidence because the dagger proves that Macbeth is gonna kill Duncan and it represents his death as it takes him to Duncan’s room where he would end up killing
