There is nothing you can do in life without facing consequences. Whether they be positive or negative, repercussions will always occur. Macbeth is on a rampage for power and is slowly starting to feel the guilt and weight of his actions. Although nothing extreme had happened in return to him before, he experienced extreme hallucinations and guilt in Act 3. The events in this act go hand in hand with the quote “Blood will have blood”. In life, you get what you give. Act 3 is all about Macbeth planning the murder of his dearest friend, Banquo. He killed his dear friend Duncan and faced extreme doubts and conflict with his own thoughts, and the same thing is happening following Banquo’s demise. After successfully murdering Banquo, Macbeth thought his plans to stay King were advancing. However, at the banquet, things started going wrong. A ghost appeared and wouldn’t leave him alone, but he was the only one who could see it. For instance, the text stated, “If I stood here I saw him. The time has been, That, when the brains were out, the man would die, And there was an end. But now they rise again”. This was obviously Banquo’s spirit coming back to haunt him for his actions. Macbeth started freaking out and everyone thought he was crazy, but it was the “blood” of his actions. Lady Macbeth had to divert the crowd and say he has these episodes sometimes, so people wouldn’t be suspicious. However, this “episode” caused the Lord’s suspicions to grow and people were catching onto his true intentions.
