William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, is a play that is filled with many ambiguous meanings and hidden images. The way Shakespeare portrays the aspects of English literature presents a beautiful masterpiece, and that masterpiece is Macbeth. In my opinion, I believe that the message of the play is that when ambition is unobstructed by morals, it will corrupt and destroy relationships, more importantly, human sanity. Throughout the play, you can clearly see that the theme of ambition is one of the most important factors in the process of understanding the importance of the play and the message behind it. The literary criticism of the play could easily be viewed through the psychoanalytic theory. The play is indeed beautiful and the portrayal of Lady …show more content…
While reading Macbeth, I truly felt like it was very similar to Samuel Beckett’s, Waiting for Godot. I believe this is because Waiting for Godot is also a tragedy with some aspects of comedy, just like Macbeth. Macbeth and Waiting For Godot, in my opinion, discussed the theme of absurdism. The word absurd in this context does not mean "logically impossible," but rather "humanly impossible” (Silentio). In Shakespeare’s play, the main character, Macbeth, is unable to understand the witches and how they can know these impossible and crazy prophecies. The conflict between Macbeth's mind and his ambition seems to be a serious struggle for him. This is beautifully shown through Shakespeare's art in soliloquy. Shakespeare often splits a character up into two personages, which, taken separately, are not completely understandable and do not become so until they are brought together once more into a unity. This might be so with Macbeth and Lady Macbeth (Freud 324). In this statement, Freud makes it clear that there are two characters in Macbeth that complete each other, clearly, It’s Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. As if without Lady Macbeth's manipulation, I do not believe that macbeth would have committed such acts. Although Macbeth's true desires lie behind his murderous instincts, Lady macbeth's manipulation played a huge role in the actions he have commited. Macbeth's unconsciousness begins to influence him before he even murders King Duncan. This is clearly shown with the dagger, in which his desires that lie in the deepest ends of his unconsciousness starts to display itself physically. “Is this a dagger which I see before me, the handle toward my hand? Come, let me clutch thee. I have thee not, and yet I see thee still. Art thou not, fatal vision, sensible to feeling as to sight? Or art thou but a dagger of the mind, a false creation, proceeding from the heat-oppressèd brain?” (2.1.44-55). In the end, I truly love
