The story of Macbeth is quite saddening, he was a good man before he was tainted by the witches' prophecies, but now he is a tyrant who killed so many. This story is about The Tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, Tragedy. Macbeth goes to the witches with his friend Banquo and is told he will become king. He then kills Duncan because he got demoted to 3rd in line from the king. Later, because of being second in line, he leaves and Macbeth becomes king. But he can’t let Macduff live, so he sends murderers after the guy and some others who saw him kill the king. The murderers kill the 2nd in line but cannot kill Macduff so kill his wife and kid. Act 3, Scene 1, Line 140-142 “That I to your assistance do make love, Masking the business from the common eye, For sundry weighty reasons.” Macbeth is trying to get murderers to ‘get rid of’ his problems i.e. killing the various people who know about his actions. I believe that this shows that Macbeth is trying to not only hide the past but kill those who know, meaning he is absolutely controlled by power. Act 2, Scene 1, Line 25 “If you shall cleave to my consent, when ‘tis, it shall make honor for you.” Macbeth is trying to get Banquo to stay quiet and on his side as Banquo knows what he did. This shows that Macbeth is trying to silence those who know and will go to any length to get someone to do so. Macbeth has proven that he attempted to bury the past, but does he control the future? Macbeth is willing to do aggressive things to control the future.
