When pleasing the entertainment crowd with a movie interpretation of a famous book or playwright it is nearly impossible to include every specific detail and changes must be made. This may include the exclusion of a specific scene or addition of a scene to provide a different experience from the original and change the theme and emotional feeling from the literature. Within Shakespeare's play Macbeth, not only has this play been interpreted multiple times through the written works but has had countless movie interpretations as well, all varying in the degree in accuracy to the original. By the exclusion of this scene in the 2015 version of the movie the comic relief has been stripped away the audience no longer as the enjoyment of slight laughter. This alters the plot of the story by putting more stress and seriousness on Macbeth's character because the audience keeps their mind on the murder of Duncan that was just committed. Their minds do not get side tracked by the Porters comical scene. This overall brings the plot to a darker outlook on the play. Macbeth is now perceived as more evil due to the constant thinking of his past acts. The murder is taken in a more serious matter and is made to leave an imprint in the minds of the audience as they watch to bring the feeling of the movie to more of a dark and grim feeling. The exclusion of the Porter scene changes the opinion that the audience has on Macbeth and as the movie progresses they do not have the same sympathy for him as the play would provide. This modification although still obeys the witches original prophecy of having Birnam Wood move towards Dunsinane. By including this change the plot of the movie is altered from the original play because the movies scene gives more drama and emotional feeling to the original battle scene. With the addition of the fire instead of tree branches not only is the war still intact but is now inside a field of flames. This increases action and excitement in this scene as compared to the original play where the battle scene only includes the setting of a forest. By having more excitement the emotion and attention of the movie catches the audience more. People are now rooting for Macduff and Malcolm because adrenaline is associated into the audience's minds by the introduction of the flames. The mood changes how people view Macbeth and have no hope for him because the overall attitude towards him is not a sympathetic one at this point. By this time the audience members have changed sides and no longer give into Macbeth's character. To the original play, Macbeth was supposed to die with the audience feeling sympathy for him.
