Macbeth as Tragedy Macbeth was a man that had many fault in his character, he was very ambitious and over confident. The beginning of Macbeth, Macbeth did not act like this he was a noble kinsman to the king and very loyal to him. After the witches told Macbeth that he would one day be king, he started changing. Macbeth is a tragedy in term of Aristotle’s criteria, by how Macbeth was noble by birth and by action, his limitations of knowledge, tragic flaws, and his understandings of how he fell. The supernatural powers, or the witches, tell Macbeth and Banquo many things, and they think they may not come true, but whatever a supernatural power says is going to happen, happens no matter what. Macbeth is finally starting to understand what has happened and that what he has done has not been the best thing for him to do, but he accepts it in the end that he must die. “That palter with us in a double sense,” he understands how the witches and apparitions stretched the truth about everything, from him becoming king to the woods moving up Dunsinane hill. “Tell thee, Macduff was from his mother's womb untimely ripp’d,” after Macduff tells Macbeth that everything starts falling in place and Macbeth starts understanding everything more and more. Macbeth starts to realize how everything is coming down for him and it looks like he will not make it out alive, he accepts punishment. “I will not yield, to kiss the ground before young Malcolm’s feet, and to be baited with the rabble’s curse. Though Birnam wood be come to Dunsinane, and thou oppose, being of no woman born. yet I will try the last. Before my body I throw my warlike shield. Lay on, Macduff, and damn’d be him that fist cries, ‘Hold enough!’ ” Macbeth is saying that even though he knows he has failed, he will not give up and just let Macduff kill him without a fight. Macbeth knows that he will lose this fight against Macduff, but he is not going to go down without a fight at least. As the supernatural powers predicted, Macbeth is killed by someone not born of a woman. Order is finally restored whenever Malcolm becomes the king of Scotland again, and everything is back to normal, everyone loves to be in Scotland again and there is no one murdering another because of what a supernatural power told
