Malcolm describes Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as, “this dead butcher and his fiend- like queen.” Many would support this statement while others would refute it. This statement is agreeable, in the sense that what Malcolm is saying is true. Macbeth killed Duncan, Young Siward and arranged the murders of Banquo and Macduff’s family. This definitely makes Macbeth a butcher. However, many could argue that he felt remorse, but you cannot take back what was already done. Lady Macbeth started and amplified Macbeth’s actions. She emasculated him, which led him to murder Duncan. This then acted as an example of what to do after; murder. Some critics of this may argue that the witches started all of this.
