In the beginning of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, three witches prophesy that Macbeth will become king and Banquo will be a father of a line of kings. When Macbeth learned of his fate he hoped he would become king “without his stir.” However, he began to think about the power and status he would have as king, so he wanted to take matters into his own hands. He had to think of how he could make himself king, instead of trusting the witch's’ prophecy. The first problem was that there was a king in the way, Duncan. Macbeth wasn’t a murderer, he was a genuinely loyal man, until his thoughts of being king and persuasion from his wife really got to him.
