Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes were both influential historical figures from the 14th and 15th century. There are many similarities and differences between Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes. They have very similar views when it comes to humanity. Both influential figures share a fairly negative outlook to humanity believing in more control towards people. While in the opposite light of both figures, Thomas Hobbes was an authoritarian while Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli believed in having a government that balanced between fear and kindness. Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli was an influential Italian however he was not a philosopher. Machiavelli was on born on May 3, 1469 in Florence Italy. Machiavelli was born into a particularly wealthy and influential family, this granted him a very proper and in depth education, he was taught grammar and language. How ever there is a fine balance between not over fearing and not being over loved. On the other hand Machiavelli argues that: the only way to preserve peace and meet the needs of societal expectations, is to rule by fear and to lie.
