He reported that Jack had been severely injured and could not do anything about him because of the mass amount of internal bleeding. At that point, Jack explained that it was Brett and his squad who set the people in the tent on fire. Herb and the committee waited for Brett to arrive and he confessed it.

My character is Doodle from “The Scarlet Ibis.” I feel as if he has these three traits within him. They are Crazy, Motivated, and Trusting. I say he is crazy because in the very start of the story Big Brother says “Doodle was just about the craziest brother a boy ever had.”
In chapter twelve in the Lord of the Flies, the major theme of evil vs. good is very similar to what is portrayed in the song “Stronger”. The boys have turned into savages at this point in the novel chanting, “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!”(Golding 186). Jack leads these chants to intimidate, but to also have fun.
Can you fall in love with a fallen star? Loving someone means to care for them and to be brave for them. In Stardust by Neil Gaiman, Tristran shows that he cares for the star at various times throughout the story. In the novel love makes Tristran act more brave than he usually would, this is demonstrated through his love for Victoria, relationship with Yvaine, and his decisions near the end of his life.

Tolkien, Samwise Gamgee, Frodo’s gardener and best friend, joins Frodo in his journey to destroy the one ring. As the book progresses, the reader notices early on that Samwise displays his bravery and loyalty to Frodo as well as his common sense towards the journey. Samwise is very brave as the reader gets into the book. Samwise willingly joins the Fellowship willing to risk himself all just to keep his boss, Frodo, safe.

The Tin Woodsman is explain to the others why he is so forlorn after her accidentally stepping and killing the beetle. This quote is significant to the text as a whole for two main reasons; it is a very ironic quote, the Tin Woodsman is one of the most compassionate, selfless, and loving or all the characters in the novel (he even cries when he accidentally steps on a beetle) and yet he claims “I have no heart.” This irony is important to the Tin Woodsman as a character, but it is also important to the text as a whole because, as we discussed in class, the irony that Baum consistently uses is a key feature in the novel that helps form
Thomas has been running around ragged during the first two books of The Maze Runner series: first he had to escape the Maze with his Glader friends in Book One; then, in Book Two, he had to endure the Scorch Trials, a deadly trek through a hot, barren wasteland. Talk about having a bad few weeks. Well, at the end of Book Two, we left Thomas in a white room, alone. He just completed the Scorch Trials, and word has it that he has the Flare, so WICKED has him quarantined.
When a person is born, sometimes immovable and disappointing expectations come into existence with them. Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones is a character that experiences this and takes it to heart. Sophie Hatter is the eldest daughter of her family, and with that information, she is seen as the child who is meant to fail in life. Usually, a person will try to overcome these expectations, but Sophie takes them to heart and goes and lives her life according to these beliefs. However, as the reader is thrown into the story of growth and fantasy, it is clear to see that Sophie may be timid and dull at first, but she is willing to protect anyone that she loves, go to great lengths to help others, and change who she is
In the book Old School by Tobias Wolff there are examples of where Tobias is a not so innocent boy. He is often times a trouble-maker and very rowdy. However, there is a passage in the book the hints at otherwise. Deep down Tobias is more innocent than his antics lead on.
In The Illustrated Man, Ray Bradbury handles dialogue in a way that greatly adds to the plot of “The Rocket”. One quote that stands out in particular is “But I am a great fool. I will take my money from the bank and give it you.” This quote is said by Fiorello, the father of the story, on page 272. This quote propels the action, reveals aspects of a character, and provokes a decision in the story.

Tybalt is hot headed and rash. In the first act of Romeo and Juliet he is already starting fights as stated by him “What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word / As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee.”(1.1.63-64). Tybalt’s hate of peace is the most blatant example of his hot headed and rash actions. He is trying to get the Montagues riled up so that he can have a fight.
