The Bull Moose Party, was a former political party in the United States, founded by Theodore Roosevelt during the presidential campaign of 1912. The Bull Moose Party was formed because Theodore Roosevelt was beaten in the Republican primary by Taft yet still wanted to run for president. Right around this time, the political party called for direct election of U.S. senators, women's voting rights, reduction of tariffs, and many social reforms. Roosevelt, who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909, began his campaign as the party's presidential candidate. A key point of his platform is "Square Deal", Roosevelt's concept of a fair business competition based on society and the added benefits to Americans who need it.
Every hockey player knows of the 1980 miracle on ice where the young American team took down the international powerhouse of the Soviet Union. Going into the game against the Soviets in the semifinals of the 1980 Olympic games, Herb Brooks gave one of the most inspirational speeches known to date. This exact scenario was portrayed in the Disney film, Miracle, released in 2004 directed by Gavin O’Conner. The scene starts with the young American squad sits quietly around the dressing room knowing they are the underdog and may be playing the last game of their Olympic career. The entire speech relates back to the theme of seizing opportunity; he starts with saying “Great moments are born with great opportunity, and that’s what we have here tonight.”
Jean Chrétien: Passionate Plea For Unity Chrétien’s speech is mainly targeted towards Quebecers wishing to separate from our country. This speech took place prior to the referendum regarding the issue of whether or not Quebec should proclaim its individual sovereignty. Chrétien also recognizes Quebec as a “distinct society” whilst specifying Quebec’s unique language and culture which makes it an admirable community. To bring this all together, Chrétien stresses the beauty in Canadian diversity, generosity, tolerance and respect which is idolized by other foreigners. I appreciated how Chrétien identified and acknowledged Quebecers cries for change and even says that he knows the separatist party will guarantee exactly that.
On June 26, 1857, Abraham Lincoln gave a speech on the Dred Scott decision, the Dred Scott is a decision on whether or not the negroes were considered part of the constitution or a “separate class of person”, in the end, they ruled that they were not part of it of the constitution and were considered a “separate class of person”. this got the attention of Abraham Lincoln the president of the united states of america. He gave a speech on how the dred scott decision that chief justice Taney, and the supreme court made was unconstitutional. he explains that the decision was unconstitutional and that the black in five out of the thirteen states that were check shows that black were given the right to vote and some were free negroes. This speech Abraham Lincoln gave spark an argument between the north and south on whether they should keep slavery.

The water gates scandal was a major political scandal that occurred in the United States in the 1970s, following a break in at the DNC headquarters at water gate office in Washington D.C. and President Nixon’s administration tried to cover it up. On July 25, 1974 Barbara Jordan gave a speech on the impeachment of President Nixon during the impeachment hearing. She gave a strong passionate and well-rounded speech.
Linguistics Being supposedly made up on the spot, Noah S. Sweat did not have time to compose an eloquent speech about a controversial topic. He instead spoke a purely unfactual and highly descriptive banter using doublespeak to voice his opinion of whiskey. Both sides of his argument include impactual adjectives to describe the drink. Or as Mr. Sweat would say on line 6, “the devil’s brew,” or on line 12, “the philosophic wine”. Each side of his argument is entirely one sentence long, implying that he emotionally fuels his speech as he works out his thoughts with the audience as one thought flows to the other.
Schools have always had issues of racism, prejudice, and students that lack the necessary education to assist them in a healthy future. If a new concept of school policy was introduced that could end all of that, would you consider it? In Dennis Prager’s speech regarding his unique, yet exceptional principles, would provide nothing but positive growth within his students. People should agree with Prager’s principles because they would encourage unification, teach young men and women skills valuable in life, and would allow students to focus solely on an education that bring nothing but an admirable future. First off, in Prager’s speech he mentions that “this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity.”.
Comparing Speeches Many civil rights leaders have spoken out about their controversial views of how to address injustices. For instance, during the Civil Right Movement, Kathie Amatniek and Harvey Milk both spoke to voice that their societies that are directing injustices towards gays and women. Using pathos and metaphors, Amatniek wants America to rid of traditional views of gender. Meanwhile, Harvey Milk uses using pathos, diction and humor to connect with his mainly homophobic audience to abolish the negative stereotypes of gays.
The Republicans have won and Abraham Lincoln is now the new president. The great debate continues regarding the hot topic of secession. The state of Georgia appears to be the site where this issue of secession is currently being debated by Alexander Stephens and Robert Toombs. The issue is whether the confederate states of South Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia,Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas have the right to secede from the union or not. The country is divided between the North (the Union) and the South(Confederate States).
In the years leading up to the American Revolution, there was a tense relationship between the colonists and their British rulers. Large gatherings in the colonies to discuss the grievances caused by the actions of the British were common. Patrick Henry applies the rhetorical strategies of allusions and repetition in his “Speech in the Virginia Convention” to assert that the colonists should believe fighting for their freedom and rights is necessary and that they must fight as soon as possible. Although Henry has rather radical beliefs in comparison to the other members of the Convention, he connects with them through religious and literary allusions that are able to convince them of his assertions. The speaker that I have chosen for my G.A.S review would be Lou Gehrig’s farewell address for the baseball committee. The main point of the speech was for people to remember the great legacy he had and his life. He wanted people to know him as a normal person instead of a great and fascinating celebrity. The structure of the speech was built to accommodate his person life and important others, while showing the accomplishment that he has done. It was also a thanks to his sports team for supporting him through the years.

To successfully inform his audience, he uses many rhetorical strategies to keep everyone engaged and attentive. Agnew delivered an exceptional speech by using multiple techniques such as analogies, anaphoras, parallelism, and rhetorical questions to justify this problem to his audience. To help his audience understand what is being addressed, Agnew uses analogies to connect his ideas to familiar objects.
On the 27th of October in 1964, Ronald Reagan gave a speech called “A Time for Choosing” on behalf of Barry Goldwater. His speech was so popular that it is also known as “The Speech”. Afterwards, Ronald Reagan ,also known as The Great Communicator, was thought of by many people as a great political speaker. This speech was given to endorse the Goldwater campaign, even though Goldwater lost the election. The Speech launched Reagan’s political career into action and he later went on to be the Californian governor and President of the United States.
