The videos have shown me that even if we think that our furniture and appliances are made in America, there is still a chance that it was made in another country. The family that accepted the ABC challenge thought that most of their furniture and appliances were made in America, but to their surprise most of their items were made in other countries like China and Mexico. Over the assignments that we have been doing so far, I have learned that by buying American products that we help create more jobs, help increase our economy, and that by buying more American made products we can help break our dependency on other countries like China. Then we can start exporting more products, thus increasing our economy and help reduce our importing and spending for products made in other countries. It has been proven that just by paying 1%, which is just 18 cents a day, more on American made products we can make 200,000 job for us, the American people. This statistic amazed and took me by surprise completely. I never knew that by just doing that, I could help create more jobs. It also made me start thinking about how that if every American knew this they would probably start buying more American made products so as to increase the amount of jobs available for us.
