Magic Realism Magic realism can be used in various situations in many different stories. Magic realism can represent many different concepts and can showcase a particular event that happens in a story. Many times magic realism is not used just to see how weird or creepy a story can be, it is used to reveal an underlining theme or a hidden message. Magic realism gives an author a way to show a message that could not be explained without the help of magic realism. Authors can implant magic realism to further the messages that are being taught in a story. The authors of “The Enormous Radio”, “Miriam”, and “The Falling Girl” use magic realism as a façade because the authors want to show that in life there are complications and hardships but people have to be grateful for life. …show more content…

Magic realism is displayed when Irene heard the radio play something abnormal; “’That was Miss Armstrong, the Sweeneys' nurse,’" “Irene said”. ‘"She must be reading to the little girl… they live in 17-B“Irene would have never asked “’maybe they can hear us” if this was just a normal radio. There is also this underlining message of living life to its fullest which the couple do, when the wife hears somebody being abused the husband doesn’t sit back, and think how the the couple would have known the couple decides to live life, and help this woman who needs helps.
