The mainstream media is the most transparent in its ingrained bias and manipulation. The mainstream media is owned directly by big multinational companies, followed by their boards of directors. They are connected with a large abundance of other major global corporations and elite interests. It is critical to state how the mainstream media is associated, often undercover and behind closed doors, with the government. Carl Bernstein, one of the two Washington Post reporters who disclosed the Watergate scandal, confessed that there are more than 400 American journalists who had “secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency.” “ use of journalists has been among the most productive means of intelligence gathering employed by the CIA.” The CIA even ran a training program “to teach its agents to be journalists,” who were “then placed in major news organizations with help from management.” Ever Since the CIA was exposed they developed a “non official cover” concept. Which meant a journalist is working for the CIA but not in an official capacity. The journalist and the CIA can now benefit from this “non official cover” while giving them both sides of deniability.
