Abstract
Major depression is a disorder that many people experience during their lifetime. This disorder is often one that goes undiagnosed due to the stigma that accompanies it. This paper will discuss the symptoms, risk factors, management, treatment, and community resources that are available. More times than not someone that suffers from depression does so in silence. These resources will allow us as family and even as nurses to be able to identify the signs and symptoms sooner. There are tools that are readily available for patients to determine if Depression is something that they suffer from, and enable them to get the help that is needed to live a normal everyday life and function at their highest level. Depression is a disorder that requires a lifetime of coping skills for the best quality of life. Collier County has many resources to assist in the management of depression ranging from in-office to online therapists, psychiatrists, peer ran support groups, and more. As a team of healthcare professionals, we should be able to provide the needed education and resources available to aid in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder.

Major depression has many symptoms ranging from insomnia, hopelessness, irritable mood, loss of motivation, appetite, lack of concentration, and fatigue, to individuals being unable to get out of bed and function.
