In Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games, the characters who have experienced starvation and poverty in their lives have many advantages in the arena. This is represented by many events shown to use in the arena the most obvious being Katniss's years of experience hunting allows her to secure food without killing others or retrieving supplies. Another example would be Rue her vast array of knowledge on plants obtained from coming from the farming district allows her to outlast many of the other competitor from jus that steady supply of food. Last would be the mentality that each of the poorer district players they deal will hardship and the fight to live everyday so something like the hunger games doesn't strike fear into them like it should in normal people. Each of these example further prove the idea that being from a poorer districts does yield its advantages in the games.
