The girl who believed in the power of women’s voice. Who came from a country that was created at midnight, and almost died just after midday. One day she went to school and never returned. That day is when her life completely changed. She was coming back from school in her bus when a Taliban man with a pistol got on, and demanded “Who is Malala?”. As more army bases were established in Mingora. People were asked to evacuate. Malala along with her family left Swat on 5, May 2009 and returned three months later. When they came back there was no sign of Talibans but, there were signs that showed war had taken place.
On August 1, Malala started going to school again. By then people started to see signs that the Taliban had never really left. People started getting murdered and some schools started getting bombed. Malala’s identity as the BBC blogger was revealed in newspapers in December,2009. She continued to appear in interviews and articles such as Toronto Star, capital talk,etc.
In October 2011, Malala was one of the five nominees for the international peace price of KidsRights. On 20 December 2011, she was awarded Pakistan’s first ever National Peace Prize. Death threats against her were published in newspaper articles and was slipped under her door. But she and her family thought the Taliban would never come for a child and a girl. However they were
