“When we talk about women in business it is more than sewing, knitting and household work.” This quote, by Menuka Gurung, shows how girls aren’t thought of as women who are educated, and work for a business like men. Many people don’t like this gender inequality. Some are teens and these teens fight for this cause. They are known as teen activists. There are many teen activists fighting for girls rights such as Malala Yousafzai, Hannah Godefa, and Menuka Gurung.
Teen Activist Malala Yousafzai Malala is a teen activist fighting for girls rights. The Taliban canceled all girls schools and Malala didn’t want to stop going to school. According to “Malala the Powerful,” by Kristin Lewis, “School was one of the most important parts of Malala’s life--and a luxury she never took for granted.” This is important to notice because, Malala didn’t want to stop going to school. For example, the text, “The story of a girl activist - Nepal,” says, “There are a lot of people who have faced gender inequality.” Menuka Gurung didn’t like this inequality. She didn’t like how big of a problem it was. Since she didn’t like it she decided to try and fix it. Also from this article, it says, “...me being a part of Woman Lead…” This means she is part of a group to fight for women's rights. She is fighting for women’s right to go places as an equal including school. She fighting for girls rights. Another example from this article is,“...I was able to...spread the word about women’s empowerment.” Empowerment means authority or power given to someone to do something. She was standing up for women. She tried her best to spread the word. She was helping girls and women. She stood up for their right to go places such as school or the market. Menuka was helping girls and women. She was being a great activist. Menuka Gurung is teen activist working hard to fight for girls
