There are many ways in which British imperial policies between 1763 and 1776 intensified colonials’ resistance to British rule and their commitment to republican values. In the year 1763 the Peace of Paris Proclamation was passed, which is where the French alienated to Great Britain some of their West Indian islands, most of their colonies in India and Canada, and all other French territory in North America east of the Mississippi. With this treaty England felt at peace for the first time in years. So with this new found peace the British government decided to turn its attention towards the organization of the empire.

Malcolm X went to jail for stealing. While in jail, he learned about the Nation of Islam. He joined Nation of Islam and changed his name to Malcolm X. The X represented his real African name.

His father Earl Little was an outspoken Baptist church minister who had a target on his back. After his father’s death and his mother being institutionalized him and his eight siblings went into foster care; after dropping out of high school he moved all around picking up new things. He had become a pimp, started gambling and robbery. January 12, 1946, Malcolm was arrested for burglary for a stolen watch he had taken to get repaired. After being in prison he started reading everything he could and was inspired by his brothers’ conversion to Islam.

When Malcom finally got out of all his trouble and out of jail he started to steal again. He joined a gang with 3 other white girls, one being his girlfriend. Throughout the year 1945, his crew and he went around stealing. In January of 1946 Malcom was charged with Grand Larceny.

While he was in prison he had learned about and read of “The Lost-Found Nation of Islam”, as well as their belief system, as taught by their leader Elijah Muhammad. Muhammad’s claim that white people were the evil whom African-Americans cannot live among resonated with Malcolm such that he decided to end his career in crime to become a loyal disciple to Elijah Muhammad, and to adopt the X moniker he is famous for. His mother and father were Earl and Louise little, at the time they couldn't have known how troublesome he would be, but at the same time he himself could never imagined that he would be a leader for the black society. Growing up Malcolm was a troublesome young boy he got into to mountains of trouble and ended up in jail. February 27th is when his life changed, he had started his ten year sentence in the Massachusetts State Prison in Charlestown.
