Malcolm X “If you're not ready to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary.” Malcolm X was a man who greatly changed the way population looked at other races. Malcom X grew up smack dab in the middle of the Civil Rights Movement. He may not have been as powerful as Martin Luther King Junior or as popular as Rosa Parks. But when faced with the harsh reality he began a downward spiral. But after being released from prison he found his voice in this world. You may have never even heard of Malcolm X or don't think that he was important, but if Malcolm X never lived you probably would look at everyone else in in this world differently. After Malcolm quit school he and a friend moved to Boston and began a life of crime. While living in Boston Malcolm began selling drugs, and was arrested in 1946 for larceny and breaking and entering. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison but was granted parole after seven years. But while Malcolm was in prison he began reading the teachings of Elijah Muhammad and fell in love with the Nation of Islam. After joining the nation of Islam Malcolm Little became Malcolm X. But soon Elijah Muhammad would reveal to Malcolm that he was having an affair, Elijah pleaded Malcolm to keep his secret. Malcolm was hurt by this, he has considered Elijah Muhammad to be a living prophet. Later Malcolm ended up leaving the Nation of Islam for various reasons. Malcolm X changed his name to, El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz and made a pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. During this hard time for Malcolm he was comforted by his wife and children. Malcolm X married Betty Saunders in 1958 and she later joined the Nation of Islam. The couple had 6 daughters together. But on the evening of February 21, 1965 the lives of people all around the world would change.
