Have you ever wondered how you can help your country by doing what you 're most passionate about? Malek Jandali proved that. Malek Jandali was born on December 25, 1972, Germany but raised in Homs, Syria. He has spent a few of his childhood years in Germany, experiencing the culture, music, and tradition. As a composer, and pianist, Malek Jandali used his power in music to influence people around the world to help the helpless people in Syria. When Jandali turned five, his parents decided to move to Syria, their homeland. He loved growing up surrounded by his family in Syria as peaceful as it was. “He used to travel weekly from Homs to Damascus for his piano lesson. “Which was quite an adventure for a young boy.’ quoted Jandali in an interview he had in North Carolina.” (Julie Poucher Harbin) At age eight, Jandali held his first concert in Germany. Which lead to many buildings, homes, and lives destroyed during their battles. Malek Jandali noticed that his hometown was getting destroyed, and leaving many innocent people into extreme poverty. He took this notice very seriously and wanted to help in anyway. In that moment, he decided to speak up for the people in Syria, by playing, inspiring, and performing emotional pieces on the piano, hoping for someone to hear the cries of the children in Syria. “If all I have is my music, then this concert is an opportunity to give voice to the voiceless.”(Raya Jalabi) “Jandali explains that his music represents a story from Syria-its people, landscape, and especially the children and their quest for peace and justice.”(Serena PAC) His goal is to somehow help the children with what’s he’s passionate about. Jandalis’s music, isn’t just a story, however it’s a call for freedom and peace in Syria, and around the world where there are problems as such as this
